Meeting the Challenges of Ageless Vision

Our doctors are committed to providing our patients with every option possible to meet the challenges of ageless vision.

In addition to traditional vision treatments such as eyeglasses and conventional contact lenses, our doctors have received advanced training in hybrid multi-focal contact lenses and Conductive Keratoplasty (CK). We are constantly searching for solutions to help our patients see their best and look their best.

What are hybrid multi-focal contact lenses?

Hybrid multi-focal contact lenses are a unique design that offers the comfort of soft lenses in combination with the clarity of vision of a gas permeable lens. The soft skirt offers all day comfort while the breathable rigid center keeps eyes healthy while providing crisp, clear vision. The multi-focal hybrid lens allows you to experience perfect vision while reading as well as for distance. Our doctors are thrilled to be able to offer our patients the latest in contact lens technology.

What is Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)?

The name "CK" is short for conductive keratoplasty. CK is a non-invasive procedure which uses the controlled release of radiofrequency energy, instead of laser to reshape the cornea. The procedure which takes less than 3 minutes, is done in the office with only topical anesthesia (eyedrop).

Are you a CK candidate?

Are you over 40 years old? Have you had excellent distance vision you whole life? Do you hate your reading glasses? If you answered "yes" to the above questions, you are probably an excellent candidate for CK. To schedule a free consultation for CK, contact us today.

The Procedure

After applying drops to numb the eye and ensure the procedure is painless, the doctor imprints a treatment pattern on the cornea using rinse-away dye. Once the cornea is marked, the doctor uses a Keratoplast Tip to apply the RF energy to reshape the cornea. The most common sensation that you experience is a feeling of pressure on the eye.

The doctor applies antibiotic drops that you will continue using for several days, as per labeling. You may need to wear dark glasses after the CK treatment and use artificial tears for up to one week. As with other vision procedures, there may be some mild discomfort and light sensitivity for a few days, and many patients experience a foreign-object sensation or a slight "scratchiness" in the eye. This usually subsides within 24 hours of the procedure.
